A Dream for an Informed and Engaged Electorate

With disagreement dubbed a sin, the trees are covering the forest
Division oft sowed from within, as others do our thinking for us.
Another meme that's proven false, but nonetheless still circulating
Civility and reason lost, all this in-fighting is frustrating.


As this election's drawing near, a tribal battleground is raging,
We all must focus on what's dear, it's not the time for disengaging.
So, how to tell our foe from friend, please reconsider outside forces
who'd like to see our system end, here in the states and Western Europe.


They've done a bang-up job so far, debasing those who'd move us forward
and propped false populists who mar, the very path that we move toward.
So pay attention and be wise, don't buy that swill that they are selling
Check all the facts, don't close your eyes, for any lie can be compelling!
